In January-December 2017, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 14.27 mln t of cargo (+14.2%, year-on-year), the port authority says.
Transshipment of bulk cargo grew by 25.8% to 2.15 mln t, container throughput climbed by 8.8% to 491,160 TEUs.
Passenger traffic climbed by 1.8% to 11.77 mln passengers including 477,670 cruise passengers (+16.8%).
The number of calls totaled 8,813 (+3.6%, year-on-year).
The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2016, the port handled 11.62 mln t of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year).
