Admiral Makarov icebreaker escorted 5 vessels of Nornickel to Dudinka port (photo)
On 28 March 2018, the Admiral Makarov icebreaker returned to the port of Murmansk from a voyage when it was deployed to ensure safe shipping in the ice channel of the Yenisey river and in the Bay of Yenisey, says FSUE Rosmorport.
The mission of the icebreaker also included laying of new parts of the operation channel westward of the Korsakov islands – Ovtsyn strait in the landfast ice of 90-120 cm thick to ensure commercial speed of vessels.
During the operation period, the diesel-electric icebreaker Admiral Makarov ensured safe passage of 5 vessels of Norilsk Nickel involved in cargo delivery to Dudinka port.
The icebreaker will undergo scheduled maintenance at the port of Murmansk. The maintenance is to be completed in summer 2018.
