KCA Deutag awarded contracts worth up to $800M with Statoil

​Global drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag has announced that its offshore business unit has been awarded a new drilling contract on five of Statoil's platforms operating in the Norwegian North Sea.

The contract is for the provision of drilling operations, maintenance services and engineering support for the Oseberg and Kvitebjørn fields.

The new contract will commence on 1 October 2018 and will run for four years with an additional option to extend by three further periods of two years each. The contract, including the options to extend, is worth up to $800M.

KCA Deutag already has responsibility for the management, operation and maintenance of the Askepott and Askeladden Category J jack-up rigs.

Commenting on the contract award Rune Lorentzen, President of Offshore said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this new contract in what continues to be a very competitive market. We have been working with Statoil for a number of years, and are looking forward to continuing this long-standing relationship."
