MOL сrude oil tanker rescues a castaway in the South China Sea

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. today announced that on April 14, 2018, the MOL-operated/managed crude oil tanker ALTAIR TRADER safely rescued a castaway in the South China Sea.

Details of the rescue follow:
 At 19:10 (all times in local time) on April 14, the ALTAIR TRADER, while underway in the South China Sea toward the port of Kawasaki, Japan, noticed a light on the sea surface ahead the starboard, and spotted a castaway. The vessel immediately turned around and started rescue operations.
 At 20:28 on the same day, the survivor was safely rescued.
 At 22:30 on April 15, the survivor was handed over to the local authorities off the Nha Trang Port in Vietnam at the instruction of the Vietnamese Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres.
