Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod Region) has launched the second Valdai 45R hydrofoil of its own design. The vessel built at the company’s own production facilities is to undergo mooring and sea trials as well as interior works.
As Sergey Italyantsev, Director General of the company, told IAA PortNews, this vessel begins a series of unique high-speed ships. According to him, the company is negotiations with some customers on construction of more serial ships under privileged leasing conditions.
The tests of the first Valdai 45R hydrofoil showed that its characteristics exceeded those foreseen by the design. The ship’s maximum speed is 74 km/h versus the design speed of 65 km/h.
The hydrofoil fitted with aircraft-type seats can offer high-speed transportation of passengers during the day-time period. The ship can be operated at deep rivers across Russia, from the Central part to the Far East.
AO Alekseev`s Design Bureau has been building high-speed civil, dual-purpose and military vehicles based on various hydrodynamic principles for more than 65 years. These are hovercraft and hydrofoils, air cavity craft and gliding boats with different bottom configuration, multipurpose platforms and ekranoplanes.
