In accordance with Article 83 (a) and Article 111 of the Russian Federation Constitution, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma the candidacy of Dmitry Medvedev for the post of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, says Kremlin.
Earlier reports say that following the resignation of the Government of the Russian Federation in accordance with Article 116 of the Russian Federation Constitution, the President, being guided by the provisions of Article 117 (5) of the Constitution, resolved that the Government of the Russian Federation will remain in office until the new Government is formed.
