  Aker Arctic: construction of dual-fuel ships is a trend of Arctic shipbuilding (photo release)

  

  A trend of Arctic shipbuilding is the construction of dual-fuel ships, Aleksey Dudal, representative of Aker Arctic, told IAA PortNews when answering the agency’s question in Helsinki.  He was speaking about vessels running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and on conventional fuel. 
  
  According to Aleksey Dudal, Aker Arctic is currently preparing proposals on designs of vessels for servicing the Yamal fields.
  
  Russian orders account for about 50% of the company’s order backlog.
  
  Aker Arctic Technology Oy (AARC) headquartered in Vuosaari (Helsinki, Finland) is a private company involved in development of Arctic technologies. Its shareholders are STX Finland Oy, ABB Oy and Aker Solutions ASA. The company’s model test basin built in 2006 was the most advanced worldwide until new ice test basin opened at Krylov State Research Center in Saint-Petersburg.
