Okskaya Sudoverf launches second shallow-draft barge of Project ROB20, Belmax 2 (photo)
On 22 May 2018, Okskaya Sudoverf shipyard launched the second non-self-propelled shallow-draft double-hulled tank barge of Project ROB20. The 6,000 DWT ship of “O” class, “New Belskaya” type, is named Belmax 2, says Marine Engineering Bureau which designed the ship.
A series of ten vessels is being built for Saint-Petersburg based company Paula Rise under a leasing contract with State Transport Leasing Company as a customer signed on 31 October 2017.
Non-self-propelled tank barges of Project ROB20 are intended for transportation of petroleum products with a flashpoint of 600C and above. With their double sides and double bottoms the vessels feature an improved level of environmental friendliness. The barges will be operated on the Belaya, Kama and Volga rivers.
The barge is unique with its ability to carry 6,000 tonnes of cargo (draught of 2.75) while its empty weight is 880.
The lead barge of Project ROB20, Belmax 1, was laid down on 22 November 2017, launched on 19 April 2018 and delivered on 17 May 2018; the Belmax 2 was laid down on 30 November 2017; the Belmax 3 – on 20 December 2017; the Belmax 4 – on 19 January 2018; the Belmax 5 – on 26 March 2018; the Belmax 6 – on 29 March 2018; the Belmax 7 – on 26 April 2018.
