Rescue forces of Russia, Poland and Lithuania took part in SAR-2018 international exercise
The Baltic Fleet’s rescue tug MB-737 and An-26 naval aircraft took part in the Search-and-Rescue-2018 (SAR-2018) international exercise on rescuing people at sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry. The event took place in the Baltic Sea international waters.
It involved the rescue forces of Russia, Poland and Lithuania. Along with the Baltic Fleet seamen, the Russian side was represented by a guard boat of the Kaliningrad Regional Border Administration of the Russian Federal Security Service, specialised vessels of the Sea Rescue Coordination Centre of Kaliningrad, Regional Offices of the EMERCOM, and Сustoms Service.
The international rescue forces and the An-26 aircraft of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation located a mock ship in distress, rescued people, trained to provide first aid and evacuated them to an infirmary on the coast.
Since 2000, such exercises have been conducted in the Baltic Sea annually in order to develop cooperation between rescue services of coastal countries.
