Flag raising ceremony held in Murmansk for icebreaking tugboat Nadym

On 29 June 2018, flag raising ceremony was held in Murmansk for the icebreaker tugboat Nadym, the forth in a series of five vessels intended for operation at port Sabetta, says press center of FSUE Atomflot.

Mustafa Kashka, First Deputy Director General - Chief Engineer of FSUE Atomflot, commented: “Our company has made an important step towards implementation of the Portoflot project. Tugboats Pur, Tambey and Yuribey have been put into operation according to the schedule. In the nearest future, the Nadym will leave for the Gulf of Ob to be deployed at port of Sabeta”.

Multi-purpose seagoing tugboat Nadym of Project Т3687 has ice class Arc 6, power – 6.4 MW, open water speed – 13.5 knots, maximum draft – 6.71 meters, length - 36 meters, width – 13 meters, crew - 10. With its technical characteristics the tugboat is ready for round-the-year operation in the Gulf of Ob.      

The Nadym is intended for providing a package of port services in Sabetta: icebreaking services in the port and at the access canal, escort of LNG tankers, towing of non-self-propelled vessels and facilities, assistance to vessels moving in the port’s water area an mooring to its berths, escort operations at speed of up to 10 knots, firefighting on vessels and port facilities, oil spill response and cargo transportation.

Portoflot project foresees the construction of three ice-class tugboats, one port icebreaker and one icebreaking tugboat. OOO Craneship (Temryuk) and PAO Vyborg Shipyard (Vyborg) are involved in the construction. The contract for Portoflot services signed with OAO Yamal LNG covers the period between 2014 and 2040.  

Tugboats Pur, Tambey and Yuribey have already been built under the Portoflot project. 

Icebreaking tugboat named Nadym  after the river in the Western Siberia (flowing into the Gulf of Ob in the Kara Sea) was launched by Craneship (Temryuk, Krasnodar Territory) on 18 April 2018.
