Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard delivers Pola Filofea, second dry cargo carrier of Project RSD59

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia based Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) says it has delivered the second dry cargo carrier of Project RSD59 to shipping company Pola Rise. The ship named Pola Filofea was launched on 8 June 2018, underwent mooring and sea trials and delivered to the customer on 5 July 2018.

The Pola Filofea is the second dry cargo carrier delivered to Pola Rise under a contract signed in December 2016 for construction of a series of five RSD59 ships. The first ship named Pola Makaria and delivered on 24 May 2018 is already in operation. According to the ship owner, the dry cargo carrier fully meets its operation requirements. The launching of the third ship is scheduled for 12 July 2018.

According to the statement, the key advantage of this ship compared to those built in Russia earlier is her unique performance and maneuverability as well as ability to carry oversize cargo by river and sea. 

The vessel is designed for transportation of general, containerized cargo, timber, grain, oversized cargo and dangerous goods of B Class in R2 navigation area with waves of up to 3% and standing off a place of shelter within 100 miles (distance between shelters should not exceed 200 miles).

Key particulars of the ship: length – 140.88 m, breadth – 16.98 m, depth – 6 m, river/sea deadweight – 5,128/7,535 m, Capacity of cargo holds – 11,292 m, number of holds – two, river/sea draft – 3.6/4.53 m, endurance - 20/12 days. 

Class notation: КМ Ice2 R2 АUT1-ICS CONT (deck, cargo holds Nos.1.2) DG (bulk, pack).

Project RSD59 designer is Marine Engineering Bureau – Design SPb. Working design document was developed by Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.
