RF Government has submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation the draft law on Rosatom’s authorities in the development and functioning of the Northern Sea Route and adjacent territories, says press center of RF Government.
The Decree (No 1374-р) was signed on 6 July 2018.
The document was submitted by the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”.
According to the draft law, a number of competences including those related to shipping, safe navigation, development of port and energy infrastructure in the water area of the Northern Sea Route and in the adjacent territories as well as services thereof will be concentrated under a single infrastructure operator – Rosatom.
Rosatom is supposed to undertake functions on providing state services in the area of maritime activities and in the sphere of state property management on the Northern Sea Route and in adjacent territories.
According to the statement, the law will let intensify the development of the Northern Sea Route as a national transport route in the Arctic as well as the development of NSR seaports’ infrastructure and cargo traffic on the Northern Sea Route.
With Rosatom tanking over the authority, the efficiency of state management will improve in the sphere of development and sustainable functioning of the Northern Sea Route and its seaports’ infrastructure, says the statement.
The document was considered and approved at the meeting of RF Government held on 5 July 2018.
