In January-July 2018, Yug-2 terminal (port Ust-Luga) handled 1.9 million tonnes of cargo, up 21.6%, year-on-year, says press center of AO Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga.
According to the company, the growth was primarily driven by transshipment of coal which was added to the list of cargos handled at Yug-2 terminal in January 2018. In the reporting period, transshipment of export coal totaled 965,000 tonnes including 425,000 tonnes handled in July, which is a record high result over the year. The company attributes the growth to upgrading of its handling equipment.
Transshipment of mineral fertilizers has remained flat, year-on-year, at 679,000 tonnes. Handlig of general cargo has decreased by a half to slightly more than 200,000 tonnes.
In 2018, Yug-2 is going to handle about 5 million tonnes of cargo, twice as much as in 2017.
AO Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga is a stevedoring company operating multipurpose terminal YUG-2 and Auto-Railway Ferry Terminal. In 2017, the company handled 3.8 million tonnes of cargo.
