Glavgosexpertiza, Russia’s General Board of State Expert Review has issued positive opinion to redevelopment project of Berth No.7 at the Port of Saint Petersburg, which includes the extension of mooring capabilities, the organization said.
The experts of Glavgosexpertiza said the design documentation and the results of engineering surveys comply with the requirements of technical regulations and other requirements, confirmed accuracy of estimated value of the facility redevelopment.
Passenger Port of St. Petersburg, located on the reclaimed territories of the Vasilievsky Island, is the first and only dedicated cruise port in the North-West region of Russia. Construction of the port in the Neva Bay began in 2005 and in three years later the port received its first ship with passengers.
The berth No.7 to be overhauled was built in 2008. The berth reconstruction will increase in facility length to simultaneously receive and accommodate at the entire pier wall comprising Berths NoNo 6 a 7 a pair of cruise ships with the length of an average of 333.3-meters. The length of B. No. 7 will be extended by installation of three mooring dolphins connected with walkways. Scope of work includes dredging of the quay's basin, increasing the vessel accommodation capacity of the cruise terminal.
As a result of redevelopment Berth No. 7 will be extended by 108.6 m, to 483.6 m. Overall length of Berths No,No 6 and 7 will be 771.6 m.
