Cargo traffic at the Ukraine based Berdyansk Sea Port in January-July 2018 totaled 1.05 million tonnes, which is a 22% drop on the seven-month period a year earlier, the Port of Ukraine reports with reference to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).
There was a 9.3% decline in exports to 1.04 million tonnes. Handling of domestic cargo totaled 5,600 tonnes, imports — to 4,400 tonnes.
Handling of suction cargo fell by 14.3% to 926,300. Volume of break bulk cargo plummeted by 2.1 times to 132,500 tonnes.
In 2017 Berdyansk Sea Port throughput dropped 36.9% year-on-year to 2.39 million tonnes.
According to USPA statistics in the reporting period cargo throughput in the Mariupol Sea Port decreased by 11.5% to 3.49 million tonnes.
Exports volume fell 10.3% to 3.01 million tonnes, imports — by 21% to 438,900 tonnes. At the same time, inland traffic volume increased by 32.8% to 40,100 tonnes. Suction cargo volume declined by 14% to 904,580 tonnes. Handling of break bulk, unitized cargo was also down by 8.3% to 2.58 million tonnes.
In 2017 the Mariupol seaport throughput was 14.3% down year-on-year to 6.51 million tonnes. In 2017 the port's share in total cargo traffic of the country’s sea ports’ volumes was 4.9% versus 5.7% in 2016.
