On August 30, a delegation led by Mr. Lee Geng, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Society of the Liaoning Province of the People's Republic of China, visited the new Port of Baku in Alat, the port says in its press release.
The main purpose of the visit was to get familiarized with the Port of Baku its operations and discuss potential cooperation areas. Chief Advisor to the Director-General Rashad Karimov familiarized guests with the most up-to-date environement created at the new Port of Baku and spoke about the value and importance of the new Port of Baku in Alat for the development of the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan and its contribution to the country’s economy. He also talked about the role the new Port of Baku can play in Chinese government’s “One Belt, One Road” strategy.
The guests were informed that the annual capacity of the New port of Baku is 15 million tons of cargo, as well as 100 000 TEU containers.
