In the third quarter of 2018, Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC (MRC, a company of UCL Holding) put into operation seven new units of machinery under the programme on upgrading its transshipment facilities, MRC said in a press release. From the beginning of the year, the company upgraded more than 30% of its port machinery.
MRC purchased four Liebherr LH 40 material handlers with clamshell buckets of 2.5 cbm each able to handle cargo of up to 14 tonnes.
The terminal also put into operation three Liebherr L550 wheel loaders with 5.5-cbm buckets and cargo capacity of over 11 tonnes each. This equipment shows high performance when operated at both outdoor and indoor storage facilities.
The new equipment is fitted with automatic fire fighting systems, 360º video surveillance systems and climate control cabs, complying with safety and comfort condition requirements.
The new material handling machines and wheel loaders are intended for transshipment of export coal, the company’s key cargo. The upgraded fleet of equipment facilitates handling of open-top railcars and lets increase cargo flow via the MRC terminal.
Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC (MRC, a company of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is a cargo terminal in the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region, specializing in unloading, storage and loading of general and bulk cargoes.
