Strong German interest in Rotterdam Experience Tour

The Rotterdam Experience Tour will be taking place on Thursday 27 September and Friday 28 September 2018, says PRA. The Port of Rotterdam Authority organises this event once every two years for shippers, freight forwarders and logistics firms based in Germany and Austria. The objective: to ensure entrepreneurs from these two countries get a solid introduction to Rotterdam’s port area. The varied programme offers a selection of interesting speeches, excursions in the port and a networking event on board the SS Rotterdam. Over 100 invitees will be attending the 2018 edition of the Rotterdam Experience Tour.

Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority: “Germany is Europe’s biggest and most important economy. Rotterdam has the largest port in Europe. We are the premier alternative to the German ports: swift, reliable and innovative. And, above all, ‘here to stay’. That’s why Rotterdam is working to establish itself as the premier Hafen für Deutschland.”

The German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia has traditionally been an important trading partner for the Dutch economy and the port of Rotterdam. One of the strategic spearheads formulated by the Port of Rotterdam Authority is to deepen this trading relationship and further expand it in the federal states of Hessen, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. In this context, the Port Authority aims to encourage freight transport via inland shipping and rail, since these modes of transport form an environmentally friendly alternative to road transport. One example is the incentive scheme set up by the Port Authority for inland shipping companies that bundle container transports. The Port Authority also actively promotes the increase in rail shuttle services between the German hinterland and Rotterdam.
