Port of Hamburg publishes "Rail it via Hamburg" flyer

Port of Hamburg Marketing has published a flyer on the advantages of rail as a means of transport for pre- and post-carriage in the Port of Hamburg, the company said in its press release. "Rail it via Hamburg" clearly shows that rail is an environmentally friendly and efficient means of transport for all goods. Hamburg is Europe's largest railway port, consisting of a rail network of more than 300 kilometres and handling around 200 freight trains and 5,000 wagons every day. In 2017, 45.5 million tons of freight were transported by rail. It has over 2,100 connections to the hinterland of the Port of Hamburg.

The flyer underlines the advantages of the large hinterland network and the environmental friendliness of rail transport. In addition, new opportunities arising from the implementation of Rail Baltica and the EU-funded North Sea-Baltic Connector of Regions (NSB CoRe) project are pointed out to various interest groups. The project improves the sustainable accessibility of the Eastern Baltic Sea Region to freight and passenger transport. NSB CoRe is part of the work plan for the North Sea and Baltic Sea Core Network Corridor.
