ООО Barents Gas has unveiled a concept of new gravity-based platform for the development of Arctic fields in the Gulfs of Ob and Taz. As the company told IAA PortNews, specific feature of the platform is its pile foundation for a replaceable superstructure.
That allows for placing platforms in shallow areas (with depth of 3-15 meters) and in areas with silt deposits of 30-60 meters.
With two types of superstructure, production and drilling ones, it is possible to reduce piling costs.
Drilling superstructure will be of domestic origin. One platform can be used for drilling up to 16 vertical production wells.
The drilling superstructure is then replaced with a production superstructure delivered by a semi-submersible barge while the drilling superstructure is transported by a semi-submersible barge to the next base.
According to the company estimates, the field development costs can be reduced tens of times with low amount of metal used for production of the base modules and the opportunity to re-use the drilling module.
