HHIC-Phil successfully delivers VLCC

Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction-Philippines Inc. (HHIC-Phil Inc.) marked another milestone when it held a delivery signing event for a 300,000 DWT class Very Large Crude Oil Carrier (VLCC) manufactured at its Redondo Peninsula, Subic Freeport Zone facility on October 9, 2018, the company said in its press release.

As momentous as it was, the occasion showcased the technologically competitive advancement of HHIC-Phil Inc. in fulfilling the fast changing demands of the global shipping industry for cost efficient commercial vessels. The M/V "TRFHORTEN” was the fourth VLCC to be delivered by HHIC-Phil Inc. after the successful turnover in December 2016 of the M/V Gener8 Hector, which was the first-ever Philippine-made VLCC, built in the 300-hectare shipyard.

Powered by MAN 7G80ME-C9.2 engine, the M/V "TRFHORTEN” has a total deadweight tonnage of 156,517 metric tons and measures 321.92 meters in length and 60 meters in width.

M/V "TRFHORTEN” will enter service in Majuro, the Republic of Marshall Islands as its homeport.

Very Large Crude Carriers also known as Supertankers are considered to be the largest operating cargo vessels in the world as these giant ships are capable of carrying huge amount of crude oil in a single trip.

HHIC-Phil Inc. has already delivered 121 vessels to overseas clients since July 2008, with an estimated export value of US$7.7 billion, since it started operations.
