RF Government has approved a comprehensive plan for modernization and expansion of mainline infrastructure for a period through 2024. The plan covers 11 federal projects including 9 project focused on modernization and expansion of transport infrastructure and 2 projects focused on modernization and expansion of energy infrastructure. The Decree dated 30 September 2018 (No 2101-р) is available at the official website of RF Government.
The Plan was developed in pursuance of RF President’s Executive Order On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation through to 2024 (Executive Order No 204).
The projects focused on modernization and expansion of transport infrastructure are supposed to develop East-West and North-South transport corridors. Among them are the following projects: Europe-Western China, Sea Ports of Russia, Northern Sea Route, Railway Transport and Transit, Transport and Logistics Centers, Communications between Economic Growth Centers, Development of Regional Airports and Routes, High-speed Railway Links, Inland Water Ways.
Two federal projects, Guaranteed Power Supply and Guaranteed Transportation of Crude Oil, Oil Products and Gas Condensate, are focused on modernization and expansion of energy infrastructure.
The list of projects is a the result of joint work performed by the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Energy and other ad hoc bodies.
The priority of the Plan’s transport part is innovative development of infrastructure construction through introduction and extensive application of advanced technologies and best practices, digitization of the transport industry and logistics.
The Plan implementation is supposed to considerably improve Russia’s transport system, ensure cargo throughput growth and establish closer economic links between the territories.
