Rostov Port JSC is going to order up to ten sea and river going dry cargo carriers of Project RSD59, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Rostov Port Director Ilya Anufriyenko as saying at the transport and logistics conference “River Shipping in Russia” held in Rostov-on-Don.
According to him, the company is in active negotiations with Russian and Chinese partners. The nearest plans are to purchase three vessels, the long-term plan – up to ten units.
Rostov Port has a status of a seaport. Its berths can simultaneously handle up to 16 ships of up to 5,000 tonnes in capacity. The port accepts and handles sea and river going vessels.
RSD59 ships of Volga-Don Max class (7,730 / 5,320 DWT) are intended for mixed sea/river transportation of general and dry bulk cargo (including grain), bundled and round timber, metal scrap, metal coils, oversize/overweight cargo, coal and dangerous goods of B class.
