RZD rail network’s ten-month loaded freight rose 2.7% to 1.73bn tonnes
Between January and October 2018, the volume of freight loaded across the network of Russia’s major state rail operator Russian Railways (RZD) totaled 1.73 billion tonnes, which a 2.7% gain on the same period last year, the RZD press office said.
In the reporting period, the freight volume loaded on RZD railyards includes the following freight segments: coal - 310.6 million tonnes (+ 5.5% Y/Y); coke - 9.2 million tonnes (-1.4%); oil and petroleum products - 195.6 million tonnes (+ 0.6% Y/Y); iron and manganese ores - 96.3 million tonnes (+ 5.5% Y/Y); ferrous metals - 65 million tonnes (+ 8.8% Y/Y); ferrous scrap - 13.3 million tonnes (+ 1.7% Y/Y); chemical and mineral fertilizers - 48.9 million tonnes (+ 3.5% Y/Y); cement - 22 million tonnes (-6.7% Y/Y); timber cargo - 38.3 million tonnes (+ 4.6% Y/Y); grain - 22.3 million tonnes (+ 30.8% Y/Y); construction materials - 106 million tonnes (-6.6% Y/Y); non-ferrous ores and raw sulfur materials - 16.9 million tonnes (-0.5% Y/Y); chemicals and soda - 21.9 million tonnes (+ 1.4% Y/Y); industrial commodities and molding materials - 29.6 million tonnes (-3.4% Y/Y).
According to RZD report year-to-date freight throughput reached 2,151.2 billion TKM tariffs (+ 4.4%), inclusive of empty car mileage — 2,737.9 billion TKM (+ 4.2% Y/Y).
In October 2018, freight loading on the networks of RZD totaled 108.4 million tonnes, a 0.3% up on September 2017 figures.
Freight throughput in October 2018 rose 3.2% on the same period last year to 222.2 billion TKM tariffs and taking into account empty car mileage increased by 3.4% to 283.4 billion TKM.
