Havyard and Grupo CBO’s good cooperation culminates in a sixth and, so far, final anchor-handling vessel, which has now been handed over to the Brazilian shipping company.
Havyard and CBO have had excellent cooperation throughout the period from the contract was signed and until completion of the vessels. The result is reliable and cost-efficient vessels that are particularly well suited for the demanding depths of Brazilian waters.
A total of six Havyard 843 anchor-handling vessels have now been delivered to the Brazilian shipping company. After signing a contract for four vessels in 2014 and a further two in 2016, a Brazilian shipyard has delivered the six vessels to Grupo CBO one after the other. The contracts with the Brazilian shipping company were the result of Havyard increasing its focus on the South American market, beginning in 2011. This is the biggest individual order that has ever been placed with Havyard Design & Solutions.
The vessels that have now been handed over to Grupo CBO are anchor-handling vessels that have been specially adapted to Brazilian conditions and have greater width and deck capacity. Through its collaboration with Grupo CBO, Havyard has developed and rationalised the design and equipment on the vessels, which has led to more cost-efficient and tailored solutions for the final vessels.
Marcelo Martins, director of Grupo CBO, says that the collaboration with Havyard has been fruitful for both parties, and he hopes that it will result in new projects between the parties in future.
The six vessels CBO has ordered have been an important part of Havyard Design & Solutions’ order book, and have also had important ripple effects for other business areas in the Havyard Group. Among other things, Norwegian Control Systems AS has delivered navigation and communication equipment and complete electrical engineering services for the vessels.
