NIBULON Shipbuilding and Repair Yard launched second POSS-115 Project tug

On November 15, almost in a month after the launching of the first tug, NIBULON’s shipbuilders launched the second POSS-115 project tug – NIBULON-9.

NIBULON says the vessel was launched without solemnities in the presence of the shipyard’s employees. It has become a kind of tradition, because the shipbuilding program of the shipyard is planned for years to come.

Alla Tereshchenko, a specialist of the painting and insulation area and a vessel’s godmother, symbolically broke a champagne bottle against the side of the newly built NIBULON-9 tug.

We would remind you that the POSS-115 project tugs have the following technical particulars: length – 37.2 m, draught – 2.54 m, capacity – 1,320 kW, speed – 11 knots. They are equipped with modern equipment produced by the leading manufacturers from the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and others. Their main purpose is to escort convoys of non-self-propelled vessels along the Dnipro River and the Buh-Dnipro-Lyman Canal. The shipyard’s program for 2018-2019 envisages the launching of four POSS-115 project tugs.

At present, five orders are at different stages of readiness at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard: POSS-115 project tugs and a self-propelled high-capacity vessel with two cranes and a storage capacity of 10,000 tons.

In addition, the shipyard is undergoing another stage of reconstruction. In particular, the shipyard constructs central warehouses for insulation equipment (sound, fire-resistant insulation of vessels, etc.) and paints and varnishes, as well as additional launching ways, which will enable the shipbuilders to maintain and construct 140-m vessels.
