RF Navy's ASW Severomorsk calls at port of Karachi

A Northern Fleet detachment led by a major ASW ship Severomorsk, being on a long voyage in the Indian Ocean, has called at to the port of Karachi (Pakistan) with an unofficial visit, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.

The program of the visit includes protocol events involving command of the detachment of the Northern Fleet and Naval Forces of Pakistan, visiting by the Russian sailors of the IDEAS  2018 international defence exhibition.

At the port, the ship Severomorsk will also replenish ship stocks of fuel, fresh water and food. The crew will be provided with short rest and will visit local attractions.

It is not the first time as the Russian seamen have made a call at the port of Karachi. In 2015, the ASW ship Vice Admiral Kulakov of the Northern Fleet called at this port, and then took part in the international anti-drug exercise.

The long-distance cruise of the ship started on July 5, 2018. To date, the ship Severomorsk has passed more than 26,000 nautical miles, completed a number of military-diplomatic missions, and visited ports: Algiers, Viktoria, Pemba, Djibouti and Antsiranana in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
