RF Government gives instructions to address the issue on construction of four gas-powered icebreakers

RF Government has given instructions to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, United Shipbuilding Corporation, Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, Rosatom Corporation and NOVATEK address the issue on construction of four gas-powered icebreakers taking into consideration the need to put them into operation by 2023 including the proposals on shipyard (shipyards), terms and cost of construction. The instructions were given following the meeting on the Arctic development issues held by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on 11 December 2018 in Sabetta (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District).  A report on implementation of the instructions should be submitted to RF Government by 1 March 2019.

The instructions relate to the plan on implementation of investment projects ensuring the development of the Northern Sea Route in pursuance of the Presidential Executive Order No. 204 (dated 7 May 2018) as well as to transport infrastructure ensuring the development of investment projects in the Arctic.
