In January 2019, 374,200 TEUs of containers were transported on the network owned by Russian Railways on all types of routes, 17.9% more year-on-year.
148,200 TEUs were dispatched on domestic routes, up 10.2%, while the number of transit containers jumped by 35.9% to 46,600 TEUs. Exported container numbers amounted to 96,400 TEUs (+12.%), while the number of imported containers was 82,900 TEUs, up 31.4%.
In the reporting period, the transportation of loaded containers on all types of routes increased by 18.5% to 237,900 TEUs which was equivalent to over 3.4 million tons of freight, an increase of 16.6%. The following categories of freight were transported: chemicals and soda – 38,200 TEUs (+5.9%); timber – 34,200 (+49.7%); paper – 28,900 (+17%); industrial goods – 24,300 (+16.7%); fabricated metal products – 20,300 (+18.9%); cars and spare parts – 17,100 (+16.2%); machines, machine tools, engines – 15,000 (+16.1%); ferrous metal – 11,200 (+32,2%); non-ferrous metal – 8,000 (-9.1%); other – 7,100 (+29.9%); construction materials – 6,400 (+57.5%); chemical and mineral fertilisers – 3,300 (-41.3%).
