Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) in Jan’19 fell by 17.7% to 1.08 million tonnes (table)

In January 2019, the Port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 1.08 million tonnes of cargo (-17.7%, year-on-year), the port authority says.

According to the statement, transshipment of dry bulk cargo fell by 45.8% to 133,820 tonnes, container throughput dropped by 19.2% to 37,620 TEUs. Turnover of trucks and semitrailers decreased by 8.1% to 45,680 units.

In the reporting period, passenger traffic fell by 7.4% to 628.380 passengers. The number of calls fell by 12.6% to 517.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Helsinki accounts for 77% of Finland's passenger traffic. In 2018, the port handled 14.7 mln t of cargo (+3.3%, year-on-year).
