From the beginning of the navigation season of 2018-2019 (as of February 25), icebreakers of FSUE Rosmorport have assisted over 5,100 ships in freezing ports of Russia, says FSUE Rosmorport.
Most of operations have been performed in the Azov Basin (3,119 ships).
Icebreaking assistance is also provided in the Arctic Basin: in the White Sea Rosmorport escorted 220 ships, in the Kara Sea – 31 ships, in Sabetta port – 86 ships. 1,087 icebreaker escort operations have been performed in the Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea).
Icebreaker assistance in the Caspian Sea is being provided by the Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsaik and Kapitan Bukayev. From the beginning of the navigation season they have escorted 408 vessels.
In the Far East Basin icebreaker assistance has been provided to 149 ships.
Rosmorport’s fleet of diesel fueled icebreakers numbers 35 ships of different capacity.
