United Shipbuilding Corporation says it has embarked on establishing its Corporate University (CU).
According to the statement, the Corporate University is intended to address specific business tasks and is supposed to embrace all companies of the USC Group, industry-focused educational institutions interacting with USC, both higher and vocational ones.
“We live in times when knowledge and skills gained let’s say a year ago can be obsolete today and will be certainly obsolete tomorrow, – said USC head Aleksey Rakhmanov. – Graduation from a University or College is not enough to sustain a professional level in the industry. The education process should never stop, otherwise you will fail to keep up-to-date in the rapidly developing world and will find yourself on the fringes. That is not our way, indeed. That is why the Corporate University of USC is to become a platform enabling our personnel “see how the wind blows” and be aware of all the recent market trends.”
USC Corporate University model and educational programme will be under elaboration throughout a year. Then a separate body is to be established. Three pilot programmes are to be implemented in 2019:
- Business Diversification – training of project teams for dealing with new projects in commercial shipbuilding;
- Production Management School for line managers (workshop foremen and chiefs);
- Top Avantgarde Reserve focused on training of reserve for a top management team of USC (Top-50).
The CU courses will also include advanced training on such crucial competences as production scheduling and work quota setting.
The CU activities will be based on key business tasks of USC related to entry into new markets, expansion of commercial shipbuilding segment, creation and promotion of new products and development of World Class Manufacturing.
Among the priorities of the CU will be the efficiency and introduction of new technologies into designing and construction in order to enhance competitiveness in the segment of commercial shipbuilding.
