In January-March 2019, the network of Russian Railways loaded 318.7 million tonnes of cargo, up 0.7%, year-on-year, the Company’s press center says.
In the reporting period the railways shipped the following goods: coal – 97.1 million tonnes (+2.3% year-on-year); coke – 2.83 million tonnes (+3%); crude oil and oil products – 60.6 million tonnes (+0.8%); iron and manganese ore – 29.3 million tonnes (+7.7%); ferrous metal – 19.4 million tonnes (-1.7%); ferrous metal scrap – 2.8 million tonnes (12.3%); chemical and mineral fertilizers – 15.5 million tonnes (+1.4%); cement – 4.6 million tonnes (+2.3%); timber – 11 million tonnes (-3.2%); grain – 6.04 million tonnes (-15.4%); construction cargo – 27.2 million tonnes (-5.3%); non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 4.6 million tonnes (-3.1%); chemicals and soda – 6.6 million tonnes (-3%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials (-4.8%).
From the beginning of 2019, freight turnover totaled 651.8 billion tariff ton-km (+2.4%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run – 832.3 billion ton-km (+2.5%).
In March, Russian Railways carried 113.3 million tonnes, +0.5% YoY, freight turnover grew by 3%, year-on-year to 231.3 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run grew by 3.1% to 294.9 billion ton-km.
