Int’l Neva 2019 Expo to present the hall of small crafts building achievements
The International Exhibition NEVA 2019 for the first time will arrange a pavilion, the so called Centre of Small Size and Displacement Vessels Building, under the sponsorship of the Russian Export Center, the event organizing committee said.
There are currently more than 100 firms in Russia engaged in engineering and construction of small crafts with LOA not exceeding 20 meters and small displacement vessels. Despite the economic problems, this industry sector is thriving, because the length of Russia’s inland waterways is hundreds of thousands of kilometers, where the inland vessel is the only available type of transport. As part of the Russian water transport development strategy, the country’s Ministry of Transport is making a lot of efforts to organize cargo and passenger transportation, to restore infrastructure, ensure safe navigation, to create new-generation vessels, including of year-round operation. Small shipbuilding firms across Russia have great potential, manufacturing high-quality and competitive products. However, the businesses face many difficulties, including financing, the lack of liquidity, the shortage of high-quality components and materials supplied by local producers, uncoordinated regulatory framework, understanding of global trends volatility.
The small shipbuilding centre will be located in the open area between the halls, and inside Pavilion H. It will display composite, steel and aluminum hulls crafts, hovercrafts, high-speed RIBs, designed for commercial, service operation, for recreation and fishing. The event organizers will pay special attention to attracting existing and potential foreign dealers to present this new project for them.
The Neva 2019 business program will include a thematic conference dedicated to the problems and outlook of the industry and a panel discussion with the participation of foreign partners, where industry leaders will share their experience in import localization and successful entry into the European market. There will be a Q & A session held with participation of officials, who will also tell about financial support tools.
The ultimate goal of the project is to support and promote small shipbuilding sector, to help improve the quality of products and technologies, to make shipbuilders familiar with global trends, best practices and regulations.
