Maersk Supply Service awarded major FPSO mooring project
Maersk Supply Service has been selected to deliver an integrated FPSO mooring installation and replacement solution for an American oil major in the Gulf of Guinea. MSS will provide the full work scope from project management to execution.
Responsibilities undertaken as part of this project include engineering, procurement and transportation of mooring equipment, safety management and offshore execution, using four of its large anchor handling vessels, along with ROV and survey services. Maersk Supply Service has partnered with InterMoor, which will support the project with its expertise relating to engineering, design and offshore execution of mooring system operations.
“With this major contract, we add both a new customer and a new country to our track record of providing integrated solutions,” says Maersk Supply CEO Steen S. Karstensen. “While we have supported this customer with marine services in the past, we are pleased that they recognize our expanded capabilities and have shown their trust in Maersk Supply Service to deliver on this complex scope of work. As the project lead of this FPSO mooring installation, we look forward to further strengthening our position in the market as a preferred solutions provider.”
The project will be led from Maersk Supply Service’s office in Aberdeen, Scotland, with the support of an integrated project team in Houston. The planning and engineering work is starting immediately, with offshore execution expected to take place in fourth quarter 2019.
“Our goal is to take a collaborative approach that reduces risk and minimizes interfaces for our customers,” says Head of Integrated Solutions Olivier Trouvé. “Africa is a key region for Maersk Supply Service’s integrated solutions offerings and we look forward to demonstrating how our versatile assets, marine expertise, project management and engineering capabilities delivers exactly this.”
