The first base for navigation equipment repair has appeared in the Kaliningrad Region. According to the press center of the regional government, the reconstruction of the dedicated facility was performed by Kaliningrad Department of FSUE Rosmorport.
The key task of the base is to ensure safe shipping on the Kaliningrad seaway canal.
According to Elena Dyatlova, regional Minister of Infrastructure Development, the facility had long been represented by separate buildings providing no opportunity to offer a complete range of services.
She says an enormous work has been performed including the construction of new workshops for turning, metal work and welding and a diesel power station ensuring reliable power supply to the Kaliningrad seaway canal and other facilities.
“Equipment available at the new base will let operate and maintain navigation and survey equipment and communication units at manufacturer’s standard”, said Elena Dyatlova.
Andrey Moshkov, Deputy Director of Rosmorport’s North-Western Basin Branch, says it is the first specialized base built to the dedicated design in the North-West of Russia and in the country as a whole. The investments totaled RUB 103.7 million.
The head of the Kaliningrad Department says the permit for commissioning has already been obtained. The facility currently numbers 17 buildings and structures.
The repair base on the Kaliningrad seaway canal services 163 units of navigation equipment including 90 fixed units. Other equipment is represented by buoys and 70 km of power supply lines.
