LR attends UN meeting to collaborate on sustainable ocean principles

LR will attend the ‘High-Level Meeting on the Ocean’ on 3 June, hosted by the Norwegian government and the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, which takes place alongside Nor-Shipping 2019 in Oslo, Norway, LR said in its release.

The ‘High-Level Meeting on the Ocean’ will provide a unique opportunity for the private sector, UN, government, academia and civil society to collectively identify ocean opportunities to advance the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) agenda and contribute towards the development of the Sustainable Ocean Principles for Business to be launched during the UN General Assembly week in September 2019.

LR’s Chief Marketing Officer, Elaine Roberts, will represent the London-headquartered organisation at the meeting, which will also provide a forum for exchanging views on future plans of the UN Global Compact Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Business ahead of the 2020 UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon.

Since its launch in June 2018, the UN Global Compact Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform has brought together 35 leading organisations in the private and public sectors to address how ocean industries can deliver on the SDG – in line with the 10 principles of UN Global Compact – to ensure healthy, clean and productive oceans.
