Atlantic Towing buys Havyard 833 WE – build no 126

Havyard Ship Technology has entered into a contract on completing build no 126, and the customer is the Canadian shipping company Atlantic Towing Limited (ATL).

Atlantic Towing Limited is Canada’s biggest offshore service shipping company and operates vessels around the world from its head office in Saint John.

Havyard 833 WE is an energy-efficient PSV with large cargo capacities, a 1,000 square metres deck area and accommodation for 54 people. Among other things, the vessel will be given ice class ICE-1B classification for operation in cold waters, and its 650 kWh battery pack will ensure low diesel consumption.

The vessel was originally ordered by an international customer, but as a result of a market slump in the offshore sector, the shipbuilding contract was cancelled in January 2017. After being laid up for a period, the hull can finally be completed, still as a PSV, but with a few minor modifications.

This is a complete Havyard group delivery. Havyard Design & Solutions is responsible for creating an optimal energy-effective design, Havyard Ship Technology will fit the ship, and Norwegian Electric Systems will deliver the diesel electric propulsion system, the energy storage system and bridge. Havyard will also deliver its own system for ballast cleaning.

Havyard Ship Technology is set to start work on fitting the vessel immediately, with scheduled delivery in April 2020.

Facts:
Length over all: approx. 89.70 m
Length between perpendiculars: approx. 76.20 m
Breadth, moulded: approx. 19.60 m
Depth to main deck: approx. 8.00 m
