Freight throughput at the Port of St. Petersburg in January-July 2019 reached 35.09 million tonnes, which represents a 2-percent growth on the same period last year. The port authority statistics showed an 8% increase in liquid bulk segment to 5.59 million tonnes and a 1% gain in dry bulk volume to 4.94 million tonnes, while handling of general cargo decreased by 9% to 7.26 million tonnes and shipments of Ro-Ro cargo dropped 10% to 750,700 tonnes.
Volume of suction cargo leaped by 21% to 226,800 tonnes. Handling of timber cargo, increased by 32% to 234,400 tonnes.
Seven-month container volume rose 5% to 1,323,233 TEUs.
In 2018, total cargo volumes at the port was 59.32 million tonnes, container throughput – 2.70 million TEUs.
