Russian Railways' network loading down 1.1% to 850.5 million tonnes in 8M’2019

In January-August 2019, the network of Russian Railways loaded 850.5 million tonnes of cargo, down 1.1%, year-on-year, the Company’s press center says.

In the reporting period, the railways shipped the following goods: coal – 246 million tonnes (-1.3%, year-on-year); coke – 7.2 million tonnes (-0.9%); crude oil and oil products – 154.1 million tonnes (-1.7%); iron and manganese ore – 79.6 million tonnes (+2.9%); ferrous metal – 50.1 million tonnes (-4.6%); ferrous metal scrap – 10 million tonnes (-0.5%); chemical and mineral fertilizers – 40.6 million tonnes (+2.7%); cement – 18.2 million tonnes (+5.7%); timber – 29.3 million tonnes (-6.1%); grain – 12.6 million tonnes (-29.4%); construction cargo – 84.1 million tonnes (-1.3%); chemical and mineral fertilizers – 13.1 million tonnes (-3.3%); chemicals and soda – 17.5 million tonnes (-1.1%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 23.5 million tonnes (-1.4%).

From the beginning of 2019, freight turnover totaled 1,734.1 billion tariff ton-km (+0.9%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run totaled 2,205.4 billion ton-km (+0.8%).

In August, loading totaled 109 million tonnes, +0.2%, year-on-year.

In August 2019, freight turnover decreased by 2.1%, year-on-year, to 213.6 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run fell by 2.1% to 271.2 billion ton-km.
