Far East regions sign agreement on cooperation in cruise tourism

Agreement on comprehensive and efficient cooperation in cruise tourism signed by Far East regions on the first day of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, says press center of the Primorsky Territory Governer. The Agreement foresees joint efforts of the Primorsky and Kamchatka Territories, Sakhalin Region and Chukotka Autonomous Region on study and introduction of the world's successful practices, support and promotion of local tour products.

The joint project is supposed to present an alternative to foreign cruise lines. It provides for creation of new routes and presentation of the Far East regions to Russian and foreign tourists. Besides, the parties are set to assist each other through exchange of experience in partnership with cruise operators, shipping companies and organizations on joint studies, seminars and other events as well as on the development of an interregional cruise brand, Pacific Russia, and its promotion at Russian and international exhibitions and presentation events.

According to Vera Shcherbina, Vice Governor of the Primorsky Territory, this Agreement will have a positive impact on the region’s tourism market. “Today, four constituent entities of the Russian Federation signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of cruise tourism. We consider it to be a very promising activity since the Primorsky Territory sees an increasingly high growth of tourist flow and tax revenues of the industry. We are interested in promotion of our product throughout the entire Far East. Therefore, such a cooperation is mutually beneficial in all respects. Our current task is to create a tourism product to be in demand among both local and foreign tourists. For that purpose, we will continue our joint work on infrastructure development and a really popular project”, she said.

The 5th Eastern Economic Forum kicked off in Vladivostok on 4 September 2019.
