Equinor Energy (Equinor) gets consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for exploration drilling in block 7219/9 in the Barents Sea.

Well 7219/9-3 belongs to production licence 532, for which Equinor is the operator. The well has been given the prospect name of “Mist”.

The drilling location is in the Barents Sea, around 22 kilometres south-southeast of the Johan Castberg field.

The geographical coordinates are:
 72° 17' 23.03" N
 19° 59' 56.43" E

Water depth at the site is 326 metres.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in mid-October 2019 and is expected to last for 39 days.

Well 7219/9-3 will be drilled by the Transocean Enabler mobile drilling facility.

Transocean Enabler (formerly Songa Enabler) is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the CAT D type. It was delivered by the Daewoo yard in South Korea in 2016, is registered in Norway and classified by DNV-GL.

Transocean Enabler was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in June 2019.
