Victor Olersky sees promising future of electric river passenger ships in Saint-Petersburg and in Russia

River passenger ships powered by electricity have a promising future in Saint-Petersburg and in the Russian Federation as a whole, Victor Olersky, co-head of Marinet and Chairman of Vodohod shipping company’s BoD, said when answering IAA PortNews question. According to him, energy efficiency and sustainability are among the key advantage of such ships.

Earlier, at the discussion on development of recreational crafts and high-speed passenger vessels in Russian regions  organized by PortNews Media Group in the framework of NEVA Exhibition and Conference (NEVA-2019), representatives of Damen Shipyards Group announced the company’s readiness to build such vessels including their construction in Russia.

A possibility to install charging facilities at passenger berths of Saint-Petersburg is under consideration.
