Damen Shipyards Group is ready to ensure construction of electric water buses for rivers and canals of Saint-Petersburg and Russia, Bastian Vink, Design and Proposal Engineer, Damen Shipyards Group, said at the conference organized by PortNews Media Group as part of NEVA Exhibition and Conference (NEVA-2019).

According to him, there are solutions allowing for efficient operation of such vessels in cold climate.

Damen Shipyards Group is currently planning the construction of a series of electric passenger ships for the Netherlands. The series will number 30 ships with a capacity to carry 60 passengers and an ability to operate on a single charge for about 15 hours.

When speaking at the conference, Peter Anssems, Sales Manager, Sales East and South-East Europe, Damen Shipyards Group, said the company could help in construction of such vessels in Russia.

A possibility to install charging facilities at passenger berths of Saint-Petersburg is under consideration.

Gorinchem, Netherlands headquartered Damen Shipyards Group (established in 1927)  incorporates 54 companies worldwide (24 in the Netherlands and 28 — around the world).
