A presentation and a report dedicated to 45-year anniversary of Vostochny Port’s fleet was made by Vitaly Pleshakov, head of the company’s port fleet, at the 3rd international conference “Development of Icebreaking and Support Fleet” held in Saint-Petersburg on September 16, Vostochny Port says in a press release.
The conference and its live webcast was organized by PortNews Media Group with Damen Shipyards Group (Netherlands) as the General Sponsor.
Among the event participants were representatives of RF Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, RF Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as specialist from 100 shipbuilding companies and ports worldwide. Vostochny Port was represented by Vitaly Pleshakov, head of the company’s port fleet.
The report covered the company’s development prospects and recent achievements, primarily the launching of its coal terminal’s Phase 3, implementation of a comprehensive environmental programme and phase-by-phase modernization of port fleet.
Vitaly Pleshakov reminded that half a year ago the company’s port fleet was expanded with a powerful azimuth tugboat Aleksandr Kozitsyn built in 2018 at Damen Shipyards’ facilities in Shanghai. With the introduction of the new tugboat, the company increased the capacity of its port fleet, reduced the docking time and enabled vessels of Vostochny Port work under contracts in other harbors of Nakhodka.
Apart from Vostochny Port, the first session of the conference, “Harbour and Support Services Fleet”, included the reports of Damen Shipyards Group, Marine Engineering Bureau, Marine Rescue Service and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
The event was held on the zero day of NEVA 2019, the 15th International Maritime Exhibition and Conferences of Russia. Among hundreds of international companies represented at NEVA 2019 (September 17-20) were partners of Vostochny Port that supply radio equipment, GMDSS and mechanisms for the company’s tugboats. Vitaly Pleshakov visited the stands of Caterpillar, Furuno, Wartsila and other companies.
“Our company operates a port fleet justly considered to be the most advanced and efficient among the Far East ports of the country, both in terms of total power of tugboats’ engines and the level of technologies involved. Therefore, monitoring of technical innovations in shipbuilding and their further practical introduction is among our priorities. We should keep our standards high”, summarized Vitaly Pleshakov.
Vostochny Port JSC (Vrangel settlement, Primorsky Region) is Russia’s largest specialized terminal with high-tech coal transshipment.
Vostochny Port is a free access facility open for all coal manufacturers of Russia. In 2018, it handled 24.3 million tonnes of cargo.
The terminal features covered stations for unloading and transfer of coal, conveyor equipment, rotary car dumpers, shiploaders and the second-to-none system of multi-stage magnetic coal separation.
Vostochny Port is the first coal port in the Far East that obtained a certificate of compliance with ISO 14001:2015 “Environmental Management System: Requirements and Application Guide.” The certificate confirms the company’s compliance with both Russian and international requirements on environmental risk management.
Vostochny Port has implemented the most ambitious private investment project on construction of the coal terminal’s Phase 3 including the construction of the federal railway infrastructure. The project costing over RUB 40 billion was implemented through public private partnership without involving state financing. Phase 3 will let the terminal increase its throughput to 50-55 million tonnes per year.
