A Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boatcrew terminated the voyage of a 30-foot pleasure craft with two passengers aboard in the vicinity of Lauderdale by the Sea, Saturday, the USCG said in its news release.
The operator of the vessel was cited for the following violations:
Violation of 33 C.F.R. 95. for operating a vessel under the influence.
Violation of 46 U.S.C. 2302. for gross negligent operations.
“The public is reminded to remain aware of their surroundings, watch the weather, and understand the hazards of boating under the influence of alcohol, ” said Petty Officer 1st Class Andrew Sanchez, Coast Guard Sector Miami command center watchstander. “Anyone operating a vessel under the influence places the safety and security of other innocent boaters at risk and severe penalties will apply after being processed.”
The Station boatcrew safely transported the 30-foot pleasure craft to the Lauderdale by the Sea marina.
