Throughput of Vostochny Port OJSC up 3% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, Vostochny Port OJSC handled 4935.5 thou tons (+3%, year-on-year), the company’s press release reads. In April the port handled 1568.4 thou tons (+11%, year-on-year).

Specialized Coal Complex handled 4648.1 thou tons of coal in January-April 2007, (+2%, year-on-year). In April the complex handled 1460.0 thou tons of cargo (+9%, year-on-year).

Throughput of Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex totaled 287.4 thou tons in January-April 2007 (+15%, year-on-year). In April it amounted to 108.4 thou tons (almost 2-fold growth, year-on-year).  Sergei Kushnarev, Director General of Vostochny Port attributes the result to favorable situation at the market of APR states. “Timber, chemical cargo and coal are in great demand today”.

Vostochny port's cargo handling facilities are located in the southern part of the Primorsky Krai, in the ice-free deepwater natural bay of Vrangel. Vostochny port LLC is the largest stevedoring company of Russia’s Far East. It specializes mainly in transshipment of coal. In 2006, transshipment complexes of Vostochny port LLC handled over 16 million tons of different cargo. Specialized Coal Complex handled 15.15 million tons of cargo. Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex transshipped 1.5 million tons of different cargo.  In 2006, stevedoring company Vostochny port LLC handled 15.31 million tons of export coal 318.6 thou tons of coastal trade coal, 218.3 thou tons of timber. The share of export coal in total cargo turnover made 95.3% in 2006.
