Iranian supply operation 'going well'

The new bunker supplier in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas says it has made around 25 deliveries since it began operations in March.
“We are very pleased with the way things have gone so far,” a spokesman for Cockett Marine Oil Limited told Bunkerworld on Thursday.
“There have been no problems with quantity disputes between barge figures and ship figures. We have supplied some of the world's largest ship owners who have been happy with the service and professionalism of the people involved,” he said.
Bandar Abbas is a well established supply source to Iranian-flagged vessels, but it is one of the newest bunkering locations to appear on the international bunker market.
The UK-based supplier is quoting 380 centistoke (cst) bunker fuel only. Cockett has the use of six barges and access to up to 35,000 metric tonnes (mt) of storage space.
“Our only problem has been with the only private terminal in Bandar Abbas, which refused to allow the bunker barge alongside whilst the vessel was loading its cargo. However, supply was made afterwards at anchorage,” said the spokesman.
“We have even made one bunkers only call where the vessel could not get supply at Fujairah/Khor Fakkan, giving them an all inclusive price.”
He said the challenge for Cockett was persuading owners and charterers to bunker in Bandar Abbas “and change the habits of a lifetime.”
Cockett has been showing prices in Bandar Abbas that have generally undercut Fujairah and Khor Fakkan (see graph below). Around 60 vessels per month call at the Iranian port.
