Cargo turnover of Nakhodka Sea Trade Port up 1.9% in January-September

Cargo turnover of Nakhodka Sea Trade Port grew in January-September 2006 by 1.9% year-on-year to 5 420.9 thou tons, Eastern Branch of Rosmorport FSUE reported to PortNews IAA. Through nine months of the year the port handled 4 438.7 thou tons of general cargo (+10.3% against year-on-year result) including container turnover of 110.2 thou tons (+14.9%), transshipment of metal - 4 239.0 thou tons (+10.7%), transshipment of other general cargo - 89.5 thou tons (-7%). Timber transshipment amounted to 911.7 thou tons (+15.6%) including round timber - 721.9 thou tons (+16.2%), sawn timber– 189.8 thou tons (+15.4%). Through the reported period the port handled 70.5 thou tons of dry bulk cargo (7.2-times decrease as compared with year-on-year result) including 23.1-times decrease of coal and coke transshipment amounting to 9.2 thou tons. Transshipment of ore amounted to 61.3 thou tons (4.8-times decrease against year-on-year result).
Nakhodka Sea Trade Port OJSC is the major stevedoring company of Nakhodka port. The port is owned by Euras industrial group (former EurasHolding).  It is a dispatch point for products manufactured by the Group’s companies to Asian countries. The port is linked with any point of Euro-Asian continent by Trans-Siberia Railway owned by RZhD OJSC. It plays an important role in Asia-Europe-Asia transport system. Over 40 regular lines link Nakhodka with world ports. The port is also linked with Vladivostok international airport by a highway. The port is able to handle over 1500 large vessels per year. The port carries out transshipment of export and import cargo: rolled ferrous metal, aluminum, grain, chemicals, coal and equipment.
