Throughput of Nakhodka Commercial Seaport down 14 % in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, throughput of Nakhodka Commercial Seaport totaled 2,588.3 thou tons (-13.97%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Vostochny branch of Rosmorport FSUE. Over the reported period, transshipment of general cargo amounted to 1,679.9 thou tons (-26.3%, year-on-year) including 51.0 thou tons of containerized cargo (-25.9%), 1,559.3 thou tons of metal (-27.7%), 5.0 thou tons of metal scrap (-19.4%). Transshipment of timber amounted to 865.1 thou tons (+30.15%) including 704.7 thou tons of round timber (+25.7%), 160.4 thou tons of sawn timber (+54.2%). In the four-month period transshipment of bulk cargo totaled 43.3 thou tons (1.5 times decrease compared to the result of January-April 2006). Transshipment of coal and coke grew 1.3-fold to 3.8 thou tons while transshipment of ore decreased 1.6 times to 39.5 thou tons. 

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
